You keep yourself
Just beyond my reach
When you are ready
You pull me down below
Drown me in water
Or you throw me sideways
Through the window
With all the shards of glass
And the water I cannot swallow
You torture me until I slip away
Nyx
You keep yourself
Just beyond my reach
When you are ready
You pull me down below
Drown me in water
Or you throw me sideways
Through the window
With all the shards of glass
And the water I cannot swallow
You torture me until I slip away
Nyx
Deep and so raw

Something in me very much relates to this poem. It might be the part which clings to hopes, even when they are false. Discovering that these hopes are unreal is overwhelmingly disappointing (to the point where I feel that I am drowning) at times, and other times I am shocked–as you described, as if thrown through glass. Once the part of me that hopes has been “tortured” enough, it ceases to believe–disappears (slips away).

That is the best summary that someone could give this poem. Yes, you have understood this poem in depth. I hope it helps to know that you are not alone in dealing with these feelings. I hope you find or have found peace as well. Thank you.
